Light isn't just made up of a single colour. White light is made up of 7 different colours. When those colours are reflected off of an object, the object appears to be white. The seven colours, and their order, can be remembered by the acronym, Richard the York gave battle in vain, which indicates - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet
